The Cleeve Community 2050 plan is being developed by a group of local residents to consider the future of the village, and to see what can be done to improve the quality of life for its residents, the village amenities and its surroundings. We don't have a crystal ball, but there is little doubt that things happening globally are increasingly affecting us all locally, and whilst it can feel like there is not much we can do, a bit of preparation can go a long way.
Our first step is to prepare a proposal for public consultation based upon the answers you give in the survey. It is very important that everyone who lives and works in the village has an opportunity to help shape the plan and we hope many of you will be involved in its development and implementation. This questionnaire is designed to identify areas of interest that you would like the plan to focus on so we would be very grateful if you could spare approximately 10 minutes of your time to answer the questions below.
Please note that your personal data will not be used for any other purpose, and the information will only be kept for as long as is necessary to produce the plan. It will be stored securely in accordance with the Data Protection Act & General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
The UK is one of Europe's most ‘ top-down’ controlled countries, with the vast majority of power resting with Parliament in Westminster. Some power is delegated to Local Authorities, along with a small proportion of the national budget, and in turn, a tiny fraction is delegated to Parish Councils. As a result, local people have little control over what happens in their local area.
However, there is perhaps more that can be done than people might assume, and local areas are often not making the most of opportunities that do exist, such as neighbourhood plans, community enterprise companies, and judicial reviews.
Our hope is to work closely with the Parish Council, our local Councillor, North Somerset Council, and other public and private sector bodies, and in doing so we can try to influence local matters, or where possible we can agree on actions that we can deliver ourselves.
